Manifestation as Mystery

Manifestation as Mystery

Lately, I have been noticing how some of my experiences are related to something I have been thinking about. I have noticed this phenomena before, but it seems to have accelerated recently. It definitely makes me increasingly aware of my internal thoughts and accompanying emotions. Thoughts are powerful for sure, but there is more to it than that.

Recently, there is a new surge of interest in the method of manifestation. Basically, the promise of this method is that if you follow some mindful rules, you will be able to create your every desire. I am sure most of you are aware of this practice. The outcome rests solely on your strict adherence to the rules. This approach emerges out of the New Thought Movement in the 19th century emphasizing the power of one’s mind. Over the years, many variations have evolved out of this individualistic, mainly cognitive, spiritual practice. I am not a fan of these approaches. It is a setup for self-blame, or worse, depending on your community, group blame. You are just not doing it right! I am sure some have had success with these methods and enjoy their sense of personal power. Others feel like failures.

This individualistic approach to life leaves out what I think is a kinder, more helpful perspective. Those of you who have been reading my website, know that I suggest we are always guided by PSEs, our Personal Spiritual Experiences. You are not in this personal spiritual development alone. Your spiritual evolution depends upon learning to manifest your reason for being here. It is a team effort. Your job is to participate as an integral part of the team. The clues are ever present. But learning to pay attention is a challenge in our world that demands so much attention. For example just now as I am writing this blog my phone bleeped to let me know I can save on avocados at my local grocery store if I just sign up! I love avocados. We are inundated by media bleeps to divert us from our mission.

Paying attention to our PSEs is challenging. They arrive sometimes subtly, like a coincidence or a gut feeling, or sometimes in a strange manner, like a voice out of nowhere, or the smell of roses at your desk or perhaps, a wave of sadness, or longing while heading to the kitchen. We tend to brush these subtle urges off, We might acknowledge, “That was weird”, but return to our previous path. Instead I am hoping that you will stop to wonder about the little spiritual nudge. What does it mean? Contemplate it. These occurrences are your special invitations to wonder about why you are here. All you have to do is participate as a part of the team. Your divine team knows you are here in the physical plane and the kids have to be fed and you have to remember to get gas before the weekend, pay the bills and wash some clothes for work. Your team is to only support you, not to judge you. You are held in patient love and compassion.

Notice this PSE approach is a softer, more gentle approach to your spiritual growth. Not so focused on your personal desires, but on your mission to reveal your true self while being lovingly guided by PSEs, It is a spiritual treasure hunt.

This is delicious food for thought, Gayle! Even better than an avocado, and I love them, too!

I have been eating so many avocados. Maybe I should move to Mexico! Thanks for your comment. Someone else said it is up for conversation.

I love your take on this Gail! I agree with you that we need to take the softer side. Too many are interested in “using” the rules to get the “stuff” they desire instead of focusing on the mystery and the bounty that surrounds us all.
