Raising Singularity

Singularity is already happening. You do not have to be wired into some tech device, although some are already choosing to do so. My concerns about the effects on our children growing up incessantly checking their phones or other devices started many years ago. I recall sitting with my youngest preadolescent granddaughter agreeing to watch her favorite tv series. She laid down her phone as we tuned in. But every minute or so she would pick up her phone and check in with something. I noticed her body would relax once she checked in and then begin to tense up after a minute or so. Somehow this behavior reduced anxiety and of course, became addictive.
Since that time tech has evolved. Last year when I was fly fishing with a friend of mine, she showed me her new watch app that let her track her sleep that night in the hotel. I hesitated to get excited with her. At the time I could not explain very well why I had a negative reaction, but later I was able to formulate an explanation. I am pretty sure one knows when they awaken in the morning if they slept well. I worry that dependence on these machines will take us so far out of our bodily awareness that we will lose touch completely. But then isn’t that the goal?
Over 30 years ago my watch was stolen out of a gym locker. I decided that it was a sign to eliminate this externalizing influence. Since then my internal sense of time has developed and is really quite accurate.
The promise of having direct brain access to the quantum computer to display superhuman knowledge is very seductive. I am sure it is super, but I am not so sure it is human. And will be only accessible to the few who can afford it.
As you know my intention for this website is that we learn to pay attention to our divine guidance, which requires being in touch with our internal self and heart. It is important to keep awareness in the present. Singularity takes us away from our sacred path.
I am thinking of a project I am calling Raising Singularity. I am not sure of the medium. I thought of some animation, like Simpsons or South Park, but I know nothing of how to proceed in that genre. So maybe a novel with the teenage character or maybe something I am much more familiar with which is a parental guide on raising kids in this new era.
Please let me know what you think in the comments.
yes, yes, yes. it is a strange world we are in, where the top gov't health person is advising tech "wearables" for all of us to get healthier. Love your Tom Brown Jr. connection. Yes this website is much better. Glad for our LinkedIn connection that brought me here. Keep up this great work, Gayle!
Riuscirai senz'altro a realizzarla molto bene. Aspettiamo la sua uscita!
I read your article with the translator to make sure I understood it correctly. I found your words very much in line with my own thoughts and considerations, and I certainly agree with them. Not…
